Inger Marie Gundersen, Vocal and Classic jazz Artist

This week’s Featured Artist is a Norwegian songstress who studied at the University of Agder, Norway, and received a bachelor degree in Health and Social work; however she always had a passion for music and singing, and always knew that is what she wanted to do.

Her gentle and alluring voice coupled with the music, her relaxed tempo, and interpretation of the songs on her albums take listeners on a musical journey, stretching their imagination, creating images and fantasies.

Inger Marie Gundersen was born and raised in the small town of Arendal, on the south coast of Norway, in a peaceful environment close to nature.  As the only child of her parents, Inger got a fascination and joy for music from her early childhood upbringing.  She grew up in a home where her father played the guitar, and the home was always filled with music and singing.

Inger waited many years before venturing on a solo career.  Her exposure and experience cover nearly 40- years as a vocalist in several bands including a youthful rock band, and lead singer of a jazz big band.  She has also fronted her own jazz quintet ”My Favorite Strings”, as well as collaborated with several excellent jazz musicians such as the Swedish guitarist Ulf Wakenius and pianist Lars Jansson, Norwegian trumpeter Mathias Eick, Swedish guitarist Georg Wadenius, Norwegian trumpeter Per Willy Aaserud, Danish jazz double bassist Jesper Bodilsen and Danish drummer Morten Lund, among others.
